Funerals, Ashes Scatterings, Memorials and End of Life Ceremonies
The death of a loved one can leave us overwhelmed, struggling to find clarity in how we wish to honour their memory. For some, it may feel right to celebrate the life they lived; for others, a quieter, more reflective ceremony may be needed to acknowledge the profound loss.
This is where the role of a Celebrant becomes invaluable. I am here to sit with you, to listen to your wishes, and, if applicable, the wishes of the deceased—if they have been shared with you beforehand. My task as Celebrant is to weave all of these elements together into a meaningful ceremony that reflects the unique life and spirit of the individual. Whether it's a full burial service with a graveside blessing or a more intimate crematorium ceremony, I work to create a service that feels fitting for all involved.
Sometimes, the deceased may have already undergone cremation, and what’s needed is a ceremony for the scattering of ashes in a place that holds significance. This can offer a moment of closeness and healing for friends and family, with thoughtful words to help begin the process of remembrance and healing.
In some cases, families may wish to hold a separate memorial ceremony— a gathering that takes place after the funeral where the deceased’s life is celebrated, their loss acknowledged, and their memory honoured. These ceremonies are also crafted with the same level of care and attention, ensuring that all involved feel supported in the process.
There are also instances where individuals nearing the end of their life may want to plan their own funeral, or simply desire a space to talk about their journey. I offer a compassionate service to listen and help with funeral planning, giving both the individual and their family peace of mind. This process can be cathartic for all involved, knowing that the wishes of the individual will be heard, respected, and later carried out with love and care.
